Tizen
IPTV on a Samsung Smart TV
Samsung TVs run Tizen, and they can run IPTV player apps straight from the built in store. No extra hardware, which means one fewer remote and one fewer plug.
What you need
- A Samsung Smart TV from roughly 2017 onwards
- A Samsung account to download from the TV store
- The TV connected to your home network, ideally by cable
- The trial login we send on WhatsApp
Setup, step by step
- 01
Update the TV
Open Settings, Support, Software Update, Update Now. Player apps follow the latest Tizen version.
- 02
Connect by cable if you can
A network cable in the back of the TV is steadier than WiFi for evening viewing.
- 03
Open the Apps section
Press Home, choose Apps, then the search icon and type IPTV.
- 04
Pick a player
Choose one with a recent update date and good reviews, such as Smart IPTV, OneIPTV or SS IPTV where listed. Some Samsung players ask a one off activation fee after a trial.
- 05
Add your playlist the easy way
Most Samsung players show a code or a web address. Open it on your phone or laptop and paste the login there, which saves typing with the remote.
- 06
Or type it on the TV
If you must type on the TV, use the SmartThings app on your phone as a keyboard, or plug in a USB keyboard.
- 07
Wait for the channels
The list can take a minute or two to appear. Open the guide and set the time offset if needed.
- 08
Pin your favourites
Mark the channels you use most so they sit at the top.
Tips that save time
- Older Samsung sets can be slow with long lists. A Firestick or box is a cheap fix.
- Check Settings, then General, then Network, then Network Status, if the picture buffers.
- Keep the TV software up to date. Player apps follow the latest Tizen versions.
