Only if you want live Freeview channels. A smart TV streams apps over your internet without one, but its built in tuner needs an aerial to receive broadcast channels.
Do TVs with Freeview need an aerial?
Yes. Freeview is a broadcast service received through an aerial. A TV with Freeview built in has the tuner, but not the signal.
Can I watch TV without an aerial?
Yes. Streaming apps and IPTV use your broadband. You still need a TV licence to watch live TV on any service.
