webOS
IPTV on an LG Smart TV
LG's webOS is quick and tidy, and the Magic Remote makes channel lists pleasant to move through. Setup takes a few minutes using a player from the LG Content Store.
What you need
- An LG Smart TV running webOS 4 or newer
- An LG account, which is free to create on the TV
- A solid home network connection
- The trial login we send on WhatsApp
Setup, step by step
- 01
Update webOS
Open All Settings, General, About This TV, Check for Updates. Newer software fixes many app problems.
- 02
Use a cable if you can
The Ethernet port on the back of the TV gives steadier video than WiFi.
- 03
Open the LG Content Store
Press Home, choose the Content Store and search for IPTV.
- 04
Pick a player
Choose one with recent updates and good reviews, such as SS IPTV, Smart IPTV or OneIPTV where listed.
- 05
Add your login by code or web page
Many LG players give you a code or a web page, so you can add the playlist from your phone. That is quicker than typing with the remote.
- 06
Paste your details
Use the M3U link or the Xtream details exactly as we send them. Check the server address and port.
- 07
Let it load
Wait a minute or two. Then set the guide time offset to UK time if needed.
- 08
Switch off Quick Start Plus
In All Settings, General, turn off Quick Start Plus if the app freezes after the TV wakes.
Tips that save time
- Switch off Quick Start if the app seems stuck after the TV wakes up.
- Wired Ethernet on the back of the TV is steadier than WiFi for evening viewing.
- Magic Remote voice search works inside some players, so try it.
